Nutritional Benefits of Feta Cheese Feta cheese, a staple in Mediterranean cuisine, is not only delicious but also packed with nutritional benefits. It is lower in calories compared to many other cheeses and contains fewer fat grams, making it a great option for those who are health-conscious. Feta is also rich in calcium and protein, which are vital for maintaining strong bones and muscles. It is typically made from sheep's milk or a combination of sheep and goat's milk, giving it a distinctive tangy flavor and crumbly texture. This unique profile not only enhances the taste of the bruschetta but also adds depth to your overall appetizer experience.

Ingredients

8 oz feta cheese, crumbled

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for drizzling

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1 French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces

2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved

1 small bunch fresh basil, chopped

Balsamic glaze, for drizzle (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Whipped Feta: In a mixing bowl, combine the crumbled feta cheese and cream cheese. Add the olive oil, lemon juice, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Use an electric mixer or a food processor to blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

Toast the Baguette: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and lightly brush one side with olive oil. Bake for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden and crisp.

Prepare the Tomato Topping: In a medium bowl, combine the halved cherry tomatoes with chopped basil, and drizzle with a tablespoon of olive oil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss gently to combine.

Assemble the Bruschetta: Once the baguette slices are toasted, remove them from the oven. Spread a generous amount of the whipped feta onto each slice. Top with a spoonful of the basil and cherry tomato mixture.

Finish and Serve: Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired for an extra touch of sweetness and acidity. Serve immediately to enjoy the contrast of creamy, savory, and fresh flavors!
