Ingredients

12 Sweet Hawaiian Rolls

6 large eggs

1 cup milk (preferably whole or 2%)

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup crushed pineapple (drained)

1/2 cup shredded coconut (unsweetened)

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

Prepare the Rolls: Cut each Sweet Hawaiian Roll in half horizontally and arrange them in the prepared baking dish, cut side up. You can also cubed them if you prefer a more rustic look.

Mix the Custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.

Combine Ingredients: Pour the crushed pineapple, shredded coconut, and chopped nuts (if using) into the custard mixture and stir to combine.

Pour Mixture Over Rolls: Carefully pour the custard mixture evenly over the rolls in the baking dish, ensuring all pieces of bread are well soaked. Gently press down with your hands to ensure the rolls absorb the liquid.

Rest: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and let it rest for about 30 minutes to an hour. This step allows the bread to soak up all the delicious custard.

Bake: After resting, remove the foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.

Serve: Allow the bake to cool for a few minutes before slicing and dusting with powdered sugar. Serve warm with maple syrup drizzled on top.

                  Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: 8-10
