Ingredients

1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)

4 large eggs

1 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups whole milk

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (plus extra for garnish)

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Place the pre-made pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. Prick the bottom lightly with a fork to prevent bubbling.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and salt until well combined and slightly frothy.

Mix in the vanilla extract and melted butter, stirring until fully incorporated.

Gradually add the whole milk to the egg mixture, whisking continuously until smooth.

Pour the custard filling into the prepared pie crust, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.

Sprinkle the ground nutmeg on top of the custard for added flavor and decoration.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the center is set and only slightly jiggles when gently shaken.

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour. It will continue to set as it cools.

Serve warm or chilled, garnished with a sprinkle of nutmeg, or with a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
