Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (preferably lean)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 tablespoons brown sugar

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 inch fresh ginger, grated

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1/2 cup green onions, chopped

1 cup shredded carrots

1 cup cooked jasmine or brown rice

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Kimchi (for serving, optional)

Cucumber slices (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.

Add Flavors: Stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes. Mix well to combine all ingredients. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the sugar is dissolved.

Incorporate Veggies: Add the shredded carrots and half of the chopped green onions to the skillet. Stir well, allowing the vegetables to soften slightly, about 2 minutes.

Serve the Bowl: Spoon the cooked beef mixture over a generous serving of jasmine or brown rice in individual bowls.

Garnish: Sprinkle sesame seeds and the remaining green onions on top of each bowl. For added flavor and texture, serve with kimchi and cucumber slices on the side.
