Ingredients

8 ounces fettuccine pasta

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Zest of 1 lemon

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the fettuccine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of the pasta water.

Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the shrimp, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until the shrimp are pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer.

Incorporate Cheese and Lemon: Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, red pepper flakes (if using), and lemon zest. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta water until you reach the desired consistency.

Combine Pasta and Shrimp: Add the cooked fettuccine and the sautéed shrimp to the skillet, tossing well to coat everything in the creamy garlic sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or lemon juice if needed.

Serve: Transfer the creamy garlic shrimp pasta to serving plates. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for freshness.
