Ingredients

6 slices of thick bread (like brioche or challah)

3 large eggs

1/2 cup milk (whole or almond)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

Cooking spray or melted butter (for greasing)

Maple syrup and powdered sugar (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray or melted butter.

Prepare the bread: Cut each slice of bread into 3 equal sticks. This will give you 18 French toast sticks.

Make the egg mixture: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Coat the bread sticks: Dip each piece of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 10 seconds on each side to ensure they absorb enough liquid. Let any excess drip off.

Prepare for baking: In another bowl, mix the granulated sugar and flour together. Roll each soaked bread stick in the sugar mixture until fully coated. Place on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each stick.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, flipping the sticks halfway through, until they are golden brown and crisp on the outside.

Serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve warm with maple syrup drizzled over the top and a dusting of powdered sugar for a touch of sweetness.
