Ingredients

6 store-bought or homemade croissants

1 cup almond paste (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/4 cup slivered almonds

1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract

1/4 cup milk (or plant-based milk)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg (for egg wash)

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare Almond Filling: In a bowl, combine the almond paste, softened butter, powdered sugar, almond extract, and milk. Mix until the ingredients are well incorporated and form a smooth mixture. If you are using a homemade almond paste, ensure it is finely blended to combine easily.

Cut Croissants: Take your croissants and, using a sharp knife, slice them open lengthwise. Be careful not to cut all the way through; you want them to remain hinged.

Fill Croissants: Generously spread the almond filling inside each croissant, taking care to fill both sides evenly.

Add Slivered Almonds: Sprinkle a few slivered almonds inside the filling and on top of each croissant for added texture and crunch.

Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and a tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Brush the egg wash over the top of each croissant to give them a golden color while baking.

Bake: Place the filled croissants on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and the filling is bubbling slightly.

Cool and Serve: Once out of the oven, let the almond croissants cool for a few minutes on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Enjoy: Serve warm, and enjoy your almond bliss croissants with a cup of coffee or tea!
